Eastern Iowa Community Colleges Brings Ultrasonic NDT Training to the Quad Cities

Davenport, Iowa — Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) is offering a high-impact workforce training opportunity in the form of a 40-hour Ultrasonic Nondestructive Testing (NDT) course, designed to prepare technicians, inspectors, and industry professionals with hands-on skills in a growing and critical field.
 
The course will take place June 9–13, 2025, at the Blong Technology Center in Davenport. Participants will gain practical experience using ultrasonic testing equipment to detect flaws in materials without causing damage—an essential function in sectors like manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, construction, and energy.

This course gives employers a chance to strengthen their teams with in-demand skills.”
 
The training is led by David Eisenmann, PhD, a nationally respected expert in materials science and nondestructive evaluation. With a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering and years of applied research under his belt—including work in phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT), eddy current, ground-penetrating radar, and more— Eisenmann delivers a unique combination of academic insight and workplace relevance.
 
Participants will explore topics such as ultrasonic wave behavior, transducer design, flaw detection, signal interpretation, and the operation of professional ultrasonic testing equipment. The in-person course culminates in a 40-hour completion certificate.
