RESPONSIBILITIES: The Department of Counselor Education, College Student Personnel, and Social Work invites applications for a 9- month tenure-track assistant professor position in its Bachelor of Social Work Program. The successful candidate will assume a range of primary responsibilities including teaching courses in the Social Work Program and professional duties to support the Social Work curriculum. Candidates are also expected to conduct scholarly/professional duties and departmental, university, and community service.

RANK & SALARY: This is an 9-month appointment. Salary ranges from $7,242 to $7,966 per month, commensurate with experience.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE accredited program;

• Minimum of two years of social work practice experience post MSW;

• A record of teaching, research, scholarship, and professional activities to support tenure track requirements;

• Commitment to academic excellence;

• Ability to teach generalist core BSW courses;

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Earned doctorate;

• Experience teaching generalist social work practice;

• Subspecialties which contribute to the overall depth and breadth of the program's curricular offerings are welcome.

For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). Unless otherwise stated, the degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.

THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Counselor Education, College Student Personnel, and Social Work offers Master's degrees in School Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, College Student Affairs, and Higher Education Leadership and an undergraduate Bachelor's in Social Work. The Social Work Program is located on the WIU-Macomb campus. The Social Work program has four full time faculty, several adjunct faculty, and over 75 majors. The Program has an active Social Work Student Association and Phi Alpha Honor Society chapter. The BSW program is accredited by CSWE.
