SUMMARY:Hub Huddle: Introduction to Lean
DESCRIPTION:Hub Huddles are an opportunity for manufacturing leaders to share\, on a peer-to-peer basis\, best practices for growth and strategies to overcoming challenges.\n\n \nIntroduction to Lean\n\nPresented by Marc Schneider\, Project Manager\n\nIowa State University CIRAS \n\n\n\nJoin us at the next Hub Huddle to learn the building blocks of Lean\, which provides tools and processes to eliminate waste from the manufacturing process\, in order to efficiency\, effectiveness\, and profitability.\n\n\n\nAttendees will learn how Lean is defined\, the type of wastes Lean looks to address\, and how to define if an activity is value-adding to their organization.  Marc will also discuss how to define a problem and the toolkit of Lean techniques available to address these problems and basic methodology.  The attendee will walk away with a good understanding of high level Lean concepts and prepare them for more in-depth learning on specific Lean tools.\n\n\n\nAbout the speaker:\n\nMarc has over 29 years' experience in managing multi-national and local operating and professional workforces in North America\, Australia\, South-East Asia\, Hong Kong\, Korea\, and China. This includes profit and loss management\, implementation of inventory\, warehouse\, transportation and supply chain management systems and design of transport networks\, warehouse layouts\, Lean process flows and domestic and international supply chains.  His experience includes project management experience with facility sale and leaseback\, mergers & acquisitions\, company integrations\, system deployments\, facility start-up\, Lean implementation and logistics programs. His experience spans multiple industries including supporting computer/high-tech\, industrial goods\, aerospace\, automotive\, construction equipment\, fast-moving consumer goods\, apparel\, and wine & spirits industries.\n\n \n\nMarc has a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Transportation & Logistics and a minor in Economics from Iowa State University\, and a Master of Business Administration in Global Business Practices from San Jose State University.
