DESCRIPTION:Artificial Intelligence - From Bust to Boom\n\nPresented by Jason Spackman\, Data Scientist\, IBM\n\n \n\nJoin us at the next Data Analytics Users Group when Jason Spackman from IBM covers the evolution of artificial intelligence both then and now. Spackman will start the discussion with the original vision of computers and learning and then move forward into classical machine learning\, as well as what users have been doing for the last 15 years.\n\n\n\nLater he'll discuss the modern paradigm and how advances in processing have started to throw open the doors to machine learning\, finally starting to fill aspects of the original vision. He'll wrap up with a couple of live examples\, including using IBM ML to create a simple predictive model.\n\n \n\nAbout the speaker\n\nJason Spackman is a Data Scientist working for IBM in their Advanced Analytics group. He leverages machine learning to help clients understand how data and analytics can be used to understand and solve their objectives. Jason spent six years with SPSS\, which was acquired by IBM. He has now been with IBM for eight years. Jason has worked with predictive analytic tools for the last 20 years.\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Data Analytics Users Group\nKey regional leaders in manufacturing and the Department of Defense supply chain have identified the use of data analytics as an important technology impacting our region's competitiveness. To accelerate our region's learning and investment\, the Quad Cities Manufacturing and Innovation Hub has formed a Data Analytics Users Group for members to discuss and leverage their knowledge regarding this particular technology.\n\n\n\nWhy attend? Hear from local experts regarding state-of-the-art technologies instrumental in analytics and best practices for their use. No matter what your knowledge level\, this night will offer an opportunity to build your understanding of this evolving skill set and its business benefits.\n\n\n	Agenda:\n	Introductions and welcome\n	Users group and tech team objectives\n	Guest speaker\n	Getting connected: 90-sec. "Needs & Leads"\n\n\nThis program is presented by the Quad Cities Chamber's Quad Cities Manufacturing Innovation Hub and the Illinois Defense Industry Adjustment Program. \n\n\n\nLocation partner:\n\n\n\n\n\nLeading organizations:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis content was prepared as part of the Illinois Defense Industry Adjustment Program\, a partnership between the University of Illinois System\, the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce\, and the Voorhees Center at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC)\, with financial support from the U.S. Department of Defense\, Office of Economic Adjustment (OEA).
